Photo Diary: Day at the Museum

In celebration of Museum Month, Teacher Kilo and I decided to bring some of our students to the National Museum. We made the most out of our afternoon by visiting all the galleries in the two buildings!

Ben Cab Museum

The next time you find yourself in the summer capital of the Philippines, I urge you to drive a little more up North and visit the Ben Cab Museum in Benguet. The museum houses a huge collection of national artist Benedicto Cabrera and other Filipino artists’ paintings and sculptures. The museum is divided into 8 galleries namely the BenCab Gallery, Cordillera Gallery, Erotica Gallery, Maestro Gallery, Philippine Contemporary Art Gallery 1, Philippine Contemporary Art Gallery 2 and the Print Gallery.

Food Trip: Cafe Sabel

If you ever find yourself wandering in Baguio, don’t forget to include the BenCab Museum in your itinerary. Aside from a huge collection of beautiful artworks, visitors can also take a leisurely stroll in the garden and farm nearby. The museum also invites its guests to dine and unwind at Cafe Sabel, a quaint café at the ground floor of the museum. It was named after a (if my research is correct) beggar who inspired the talented Ben Cabrera and later became his muse.
